Ramadan is a holy month in the Islamic calendar. In our preschool, we aim to promote cultural awareness and understanding among our young learners. We organized a procession on the first day of Ramadan, where children and teachers gathered together to celebrate. We explained to the children that Ramadan is a special month for Muslims, and it is a time when they fast from dawn till dusk.
The procession started with children carrying the decoration of sticks, and walking in a line while chanting Ramadan songs. The children were excited and they enjoyed singing. They also sharing the Ramadan Flyer to other peoples we met. We made sure to have ample adult supervision to ensure the safety of the children.
After the procession, we gathered together in the school, where we had a discussion about the importance of Ramadan. We shared some Ramadan stories and explained the significance of fasting and prayer during this month.
